Also known as the Palace of Westminster, the Houses of Parliament are the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, which make up the UK parliament. Rebuilt in 1840 this stunning building is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. On the north side of the Houses of Parliament is Elizabeth Tower which is home to Big Ben - one of the most famous clock towers in the world. The name Big Ben actually refers to the giant bell inside the clock tower and it is one of London’s favourite and most iconic landmarks. Located on the bank of the River Thames, one of the best views of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben is from the south side of Westminster Bridge towards the London Eye.
