Nicknamed Lovers' Bridge, the Pont des Arts and Pont de l'Archeveche are fast becoming famous landmarks in Paris as places to leave love locks. For those who have not heard of love locks before, this is where couples write their names on a padlock and lock it on to the bridge, normally throwing away the key into the River Seine afterwards. It is left there as a symbol of their undying love and commitment to one another.
It is said couples should be careful which bridge they attach their lock to as Pont des Arts is for your committed love, while Pont de l’Archeveche is for your lover.
Pont des Arts is a pedestrian bridge which crosses the Seine and connects the Institut de France and the Central Square (Cour Carree) of the Palais du Louvre. Pont de l’Archeveche is the smallest road bridge in Paris at the north side of Notre Dame near Ile Saint Louis.
They would be a great location for a surprise or romantic getaway especially for Valentine's Day or anniversaries.
