Established in 1867 Manchester Museum is owned by the University of Manchester, and is is the UK’s largest university museum. Housed in an impressive neogothic building, the museum has four floors displaying collections from all over the world. Highlights include one of the largest and important collections of ancient Egyptian artifacts, live frogs and amphibians in the Vivarium and a fossilised Tyrannosaurus Rex named Stan.
The museum is free to enter and contains several hands on displays ideal for keeping the whole family entertained. As well as the permanent collections the museum also hosts regular special exhibits throughout the year.
