By Air

The main airport in the Philippines is located near to Manila, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is reachable by many UK international airports. AirAsia and SkyJet offer domestic internal flights around the country and can offer a good deal for seeing the sights. 

By Train

The majority of passengers in the Philippines go by train throughout Manila, using the metro service. However, other trains are also provided for those exploring other areas. 

By Car

In the Philippines, they drive on the right, with similar laws to the UK, such as wearing seatbelts and all cars have to be registered. The speed limits vary from 60 km/h to 100 km/ h. Providing a driving license is valid and is in English, a visitor can drive here for up to 90 days.

Language

Up to 187 languages and dialects are spoken in the Philippines including English, a variety of Chinese, and Spanish. English is spoken widely throughout the Philippines but this does not mean everyone can speak it or understand it. Although most can communicate fluently.

The currency used in the Philippines is the Peso.

911 is the main emergency number linking up directly to the PNP (Philippine National Police) and emergency services. 

8888 is the President's Hotline which serves as complaints and questions ranging from postal ID to pensions. 

Shops mostly open between the hours of  10am to 7:30pm and are closed on public holidays.

Keep an eye on  typhoon2000, a website dedicated to keeping a tab on typhoons, the typhoon season is between June and December, but all areas of the Philippines differs.
