Victoria is situated within the City of Westminster. It boasts an excellent central location for you to base yourself and explore London and its many attractions. Victoria has excellent transport links as it is home to one of the busiest transport interchanges in the United Kingdom serving over 70 million passengers each year. Named after Queen Victoria, royal enthusiasts will find this area an ideal base to reach Buckingham Palace where you can witness the Changing of the Guard or view the amazing collection of art at the Queen’s Gallery. Part of the world famous West End you will find Victoria Palace Theatre, most famous for its gold statue of Anna Pavlova which was above it. It hosts countless famous shows and musicals including the yearly Royal Variety Show, and at the moment, Billy Elliot. There is also the Apollo Victoria Theatre currently showing Wicked. Other attractions in the area include Little Ben, a 20 foot version of Big Ben stands in a traffic island outside the Victoria Palace. Victoria Place and Cardinal Place shopping centres have a variety of shops as well as bars and eateries. Close by and within easy reach you will find Westminster Cathedral, one of London's only examples of neo-Byzantine architecture, with 12 million terracotta coloured bricks on the outside. The interior has plain walls to contrast with the mosaics and marbles. Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace are all around 10 minutes’ walk away from Victoria.
