Twickenham lies 10 miles south west of the centre of London and is a beautiful leafy suburb in an idyllic riverside setting. It offers a number of independent shops, boutiques, restaurants and riverside pubs with some of the best restaurants in St Margerets. Famed for its stunning mix of architecture there are 3 grand mansions with public access for you to explore; York House which also doubles as the Town Hall, Strawberry Hill House which boast a calender of events throughout the year and Marble Hill which provides many leisure facilities including a cricket pitch, nets, tennis court, a putting green and children’s play area. Home of the Rugby Union, Twickenham Stadium is the worlds largest stadium solely used for rugby, though it does also host charity music concerts through the year. For rugby fans the stadium tour and a visit to the World of Rugby museum are a must during your stay. Eel Pie Island is an island in the River Thames at Twickenham, it can be reached by footbridge or boat. The island is home to artists and a couple of small businesses but remains private for the most part of the year and is only opened to public a couple of weekends a year.
